Child
Oil on Panel
19.5" x 36"
This work titled Child by Tanya Gadbaw is part of a series
that deals with her childhood memories.
Looking into her past, she depicts three stages of her youthful identity,
using the power of object. These stages include her tomboy mischievous playful side,
her innocent sweet-tooth side, and most importantly her self-reflection.
Tanya Gadbaw was inspired by her upbringings in her grandmother's home.
Stories, objects, emotions, events, and other symbols filled this home and like wise fill her paintings of today.
Using the viscosity of oil paint, Gadbaw uses the spontaneous nature of this medium to its fullest.
Intuitively painting, she pulls on her inners and reflects this back on the panel.
This is where, she believes, the good stuff comes from.
The stuff that we can all relate to and share in the moment with.
